Chronicles Of Wulong

The storyof Wulong

March 2014

The building and the land have been leased for 70 years. The building is in a very basic and rustic state. Just a trickle of power and water supply is not yet functioning. The land has been ploughed, 57 fruit trees have been planted.
We have had the farmhouse redesigned by Nicolas Godelet, a Belgian architect with whom Patrick used to be involved for a project of an eco-boarding school in Huizhou that did not reach the implementation phase.
This comes out as a farm with eight bedrooms and a large meeting room that is melted down in nature. The sketch is here : The building material will be earth brought to the finest possible technological edge.

Many things have been achieved.  Water is there as well as electrity.  The main living quarter has got a new  traditional Chinese roof. All the partitions inside have been demolished and the ceiling of the ground floor has been elevated and reinforced in a way that it can support a full first floor that covers all the surface : a nice provisional living quarter.  The space to the right of the living quarter has been converted into a fully equiped bathroom.  The space to the left which used to be  a stinking old brewing place has been converted into a pretty, cosy bedroom.  The iron door and windows frames have been changed for wooden ones.  The first floor is henceforth connected with a viewing platform that has been masterminded by Minyan.  We will be able from now on to move in and live there in acceptable conditions.

When it comes to the activities of the farm.  Minyan has planted more trees.  We have been to Thailand end of December-beginning of June to get acquiqnted with the use of enzymes in organic farming.  This has been a deep holistic experience since we were trained in a buddhist community that is promoting a very simple, frugal and egalitarian way of life inspired with a deep respect for life and people.

We will be able to move ahead with the construction of the rest of the buiding as soon as the funds will be available. This includes, living quarters for a couple, six rooms, a multifunctional hall, an entrance hall and wetlands. Patrick is preparing a scheme to sell memberships.
